Character Creation

Character Creation follows the guidelines laid out in Changeling 20 and the OWBN C20 MET conversion Packet. Characters begin with 60xp.

Open Availability: Boggans, Eshu, Ghille Dhu, Nockers, Pooka, Redcaps, Satyrs, Sluagh, Trolls, and Sidhe of Houses Dougal, Eiluned, Fiona, Gwydion, Liam, and Scathach.

Please note that Attribute Traits, Abilities, etc granted by Birthrights and House Boons allow a Character to exceed their normal maximums (Boggans may have Crafts x6, Redcaps can have Intimidation x6, etc). In the case of Birthrights that grant Abilities such as Crafts (the Nocker Birthright, for example), only the type of Crafts chosen for the Birthright may be raised to x6, not all types of Crafts.

For other concepts, please speak with a Storyteller and have an idea of your background.

Restricted Backgrounds:

Holdings. Freehold membership will be earned in character, at which point the Holdings background may become available.
Title. Any PC wishing to begin with a title higher than x2 must be part of a fealty chain. Knights errant are acceptable - speak to us about some of the knightly orders! - but Squires (Title x1) should be sworn to a Knight.
Influence. Many Influences are inherently banal - please speak to us about any Influences you may want.
Treasure. At Character Creation, you may freely purchase one Treasure, rated between 1-5 points. Please look over the Treasure Guidelines above and have a rough idea of what you want, to discuss with staff.

Arts

Characters choose three (3) Arts at Character Creation which are their 'natural' Arts; these may be improved without a teacher. Any other Arts must be taught by another Changeling.

Restricted Arts (Commoners): Chronos, Naming, Sovereign

Restricted Arts (Nobles): Chicanery, Metamorphosis

OWBN R&U Restrictions

Please note that Chronos, Naming, and the 5th level of Spring are Coordinator Approval, and the Ghille Duh Kith are classified as Coordinator Notification by OWBN Bylaws; the Selkie Kith is classified as Rare, and requires a Council Vote.

True Names and Learning Arts (For those new to Changeling)

Just a reminder that you may improve the three Arts you chose at Character Creation without a teacher - anything else, you need to go find a PC or NPC willing to train you.

Realms can be bought as you like.

Greymare is a Lore, so you need a teacher.

And finally, you need to have been Sained to spend XP on Changeling things (Arts, Realms, Glamour, etc) as opposed to mortal things (Influence, Attributes, Willpower, etc).

We're assuming everyone has been Sained at some point. We'd like you to post who did it in your journal this month so that we know. You have three options:

Duke William Hooker ap Eiluned
Orsus, holder of the Saining Stone of the former Commonwealth
You were around before Duke William took over, and you think its appropriate that someone else... maybe the previous Duke, maybe someone from a place you used to live... Sained you. Let us know what you're thinking.

Experience, Writeups, and You

Now that we have one game under our belts, lets talk about everyone's favorite topics: downtime, writeups, and your dots.

Most of these rules have been adapted from the other Hartford games.

Please record earned experience in puppet prince, expenditures as well, and also please post what you'd like to buy in your journals. We'll respond a week before game, so if you post later than that, your purchases will not be approved for game.

XP is earned as follows:

4 for attendance
2 for being on time
2 for costuming
2 for monthly writeups
2 for any downtime scenes by email, in puppet rooms, etc - staff must be cc;d

There is a cap of 8 XP per month. You may claim XP from OWBN staff positions (ST, Coord, Subcoord, etc), but only on a single character at a time.
