Character Creation

Character Creation follows the guidelines laid out in Changeling 20 and the OWBN C20 MET conversion Packet. Characters begin with 60xp.

Open Availability: Boggans, Eshu, Ghille Dhu, Nockers, Pooka, Redcaps, Satyrs, Sluagh, Trolls, and Sidhe of Houses Dougal, Eiluned, Fiona, Gwydion, Liam, and Scathach.

Please note that Attribute Traits, Abilities, etc granted by Birthrights and House Boons allow a Character to exceed their normal maximums (Boggans may have Crafts x6, Redcaps can have Intimidation x6, etc). In the case of Birthrights that grant Abilities such as Crafts (the Nocker Birthright, for example), only the type of Crafts chosen for the Birthright may be raised to x6, not all types of Crafts.

For other concepts, please speak with a Storyteller and have an idea of your background.

Restricted Backgrounds:

Holdings. Freehold membership will be earned in character, at which point the Holdings background may become available.
Title. Any PC wishing to begin with a title higher than x2 must be part of a fealty chain. Knights errant are acceptable - speak to us about some of the knightly orders! - but Squires (Title x1) should be sworn to a Knight.
Influence. Many Influences are inherently banal - please speak to us about any Influences you may want.
Treasure. At Character Creation, you may freely purchase one Treasure, rated between 1-5 points. Please look over the Treasure Guidelines above and have a rough idea of what you want, to discuss with staff.

Arts

Characters choose three (3) Arts at Character Creation which are their 'natural' Arts; these may be improved without a teacher. Any other Arts must be taught by another Changeling.

Restricted Arts (Commoners): Chronos, Naming, Sovereign

Restricted Arts (Nobles): Chicanery, Metamorphosis

OWBN R&U Restrictions

Please note that Chronos, Naming, and the 5th level of Spring are Coordinator Approval, and the Ghille Duh Kith are classified as Coordinator Notification by OWBN Bylaws; the Selkie Kith is classified as Rare, and requires a Council Vote.

NEE, Game Time and Brunch

Thinking ahead to the Northeast Event: our time slot is Noon to 5pm. We can't really run over because vampire starts at 6:00. That puts us on a pretty tight schedule. It occurred to us that people might either come late or need to step out to get breakfast/lunch etc, and that perhaps it would help if we did a Samhain Feast. I.e., don't worry about going out to get lunch partway through, we would have food at game. We would probably do this through some kind of pot luck. Thoughts?

Summer's End: Game 9/23

With refugees from other parts of Apples continuing to strain the resources of the Duchy of Mirrors, and the appearence of a Dark Tower not far from Graymere Glen, the conflict with the Thallain forces moves into a new phase.

It has often been said that summer is the season of war, and the summer of 2017 has proven to be just that - and yet, at every turn, the Kithain of Mirrors have opposed those serving the elder darks. In this Duchy alone out of the Duchies of Apples, time and time again the servants of the Green Court have been denied victory.

How long can it be before the hammer falls here?

We look forward to seeing everyone this coming Saturday, 9/23 at 1pm for your next instalment of Graymere Glen! 205 Hollister Street, Manchester, CT. All reductions in Freehold Glamour/Dross production from refugees last month remain in effect. :)

IC Announcement from the Countess

All,

Regarding the events of today, I have a few announcements to be made. I'm sure you're all as exhausted as I am. I'll keep this brief.

Earlier today, a group of brave Changelings fought and repelled Thallains attempting to storm the freehold of Duchess Autumn ni Fiona. I now have the capacity to reward them as they should be rewarded, and would like to do so. Danni, Orsus, Aleksey, Kurt, Socks, Bono, Vicky, I can visit your freeholds at your convenience.

So often when we gather, we are busy dealing with End of the World problems and don't have time to discuss administrative issues. I had hoped to bring this before you all, but did not have the time. My original plan was to distribute compensation for aiding refugees on a case by case basis to focus on exactly what was needed. Due to time constraints, I am taking Orsus's more straightforward advice and waiving taxes. If you would prefer compensation in another manner more tailored to your personal situation or need additional relief, please contact me privately and we can schedule a meeting to discuss it.

I am here for all of you, commoners and nobles alike. I will help you in whatever capacity I am able. Tell me what you need to be safe. Do your Freeholds need reinforced? Do you require training in an Art you do not possess? Training in combat? Weapons? Tell me. I will make sure you get what you need.

Some of these Thallain, these ogres, think they can set up a freehold here in our home. I want to speak with those of you skilled in reconnaissance at your earliest possible convenience so that we can begin scouting out these Dethskullz ogres and keep them from getting too comfortable. I have a sympathetic link to the Sidhe childling we met today and a few good ideas.

Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. I am incredibly lucky to know you, and so proud of the work you've done. I know we can keep working together and win this.

Game 8/26/2017: Refugee Crisis

Wow, it feels like forever since I've made one of these teaser posts! But now its time to gear up for big things coming this fall: like the Northeast Event!

While an alliance of Fae and Prodigals has recaptured the royal Freehold of Winterhaven in New York City, and the Thallain forces in the Duchy of Mirrors seem to have been thwarted at every turn, the rest of the Kingdom of Apples has not been so lucky. It's said that the Ducal Freehold of New Jersey has fallen, and word of increasing attacks throughout Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and both New Jersey and New York States come on nearly a daily basis.

Refugee Kithain begin to first trickle, and then pour into the Duchy of Mirrors, where no Freeholds have yet fallen to the Thallain army. They come to your freeholds invoking the Right of Safe Haven, desperate for Glamour and shelter, many bearing horrible Chimerical wounds. They speak of Freeholds which have been Reaved into mere flickers of Balefire, and Ogres on Motorcycles raiding along the Trods, striking refugees as they flee. Worse, they speak of childlings and new Chrysalises, in particular, being taken captive...

Everyone who holds a Freehold has a choice: take the refugees in, and your Freeholds are effectively reduced by 2 levels this month, or turn the refugees away! Please talk it over among yourselves and let us know!

We've got a couple more months of outdoor games before it gets too cold, so let's enjoy! Saturday is currently forecast as dry and in the high 70's - as long as that remains the case, game will be from 1pm-6pm-ish at 205 Hollister Street in the back yard. We look forward to seeing everyone!

In the aftermath of Beltaine, and in the continued buildup to NEE, changing breeds PCs continue to be welcome!

Here's one way in which C20 may affect our Chronicle once it becomes Org Legal:

The owner of a Freehold gains the rating of the Freehold in Bonus Traits on all defenses challenges against physical or magical attacks while in their Freehold.

Also, anyone who breaks the rules set by the owner takes the Freehold's rating as a Trait penalty on all challenges while in that Freehold, until the owner forgives them.

I know that Sarah brought this up at game, but our regular July Date conflicts with commitments that a lot of people have for Lex and Mel's upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, there really isn't a great time to reschedule game to; all of the earlier weekends are full up.

As a result, please take your 8xp for July. I should be at the Southington Offnight/Downtime Night on the 7th if there are small things that need to be run, and we remain available by email. We should see everyone on August 26th!
