[PROPOSAL] Allowing and Denying Entry Bylaw, Minor Change

Currently this is passing with a majority vote if anyone has concerns or ideas about this speak up will be casting KoNYs vote later before it closes on the 8th.

  1. The storytellers of individual chronicles have the right to ban any player or character from their game. Alternatively storytellers may ask a player to temporarily alter their sheet or item cards, or take other actions, to be allowed entry into the chronicle. If a player accepts the requirements to gain entry then they must follow Character Regulations Bylaw Twelve. Any player or character that is banned from a chronicle must be announced on the OWBN-ST and OWBN-Council lists, included in the chronicle report, and the player should be notified if possible.

The original is as follows:

  1. The storytellers of individual chronicles have the right to ban any player or character from their game if s/he would upset game balance or plot. Alternatively storytellers may ask a player to temporarily alter their sheet or item cards to be allowed entry into the chronicle. If a player accepts the changes to gain entry then they must follow Character Regulations Bylaw Twelve. Any player or character that is banned from a chronicle must be announced on the OWBN-ST and OWBN-Council lists, included in the chronicle report, and the player should be notified if possible.

Reasoning:

Currently the bylaws imply that the only reason to ban a player or character is because of IC concerns.  I feel that OOC reasons beyond game balance or plot are also acceptable, as do most STs, especially when it comes to player safety.  This updates the bylaws to reflect this.  It also leaves it up to the ST staff of the game.
I also feel that STs should be able to place requirements on players or characters, beyond changing their sheet, in order to play. For example, a minor who wishes to play must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is responsible for them.  Or telling a visitor, "You can play, but don't use this power on PCs, only NPCs." Again, this is up to the STs of the game.
Basically this is how things already mostly are, but I want the bylaws to reflect that, so that expectations are clear.

Pallagrande is coming!

by Rob S

September 30th, 2013

With the cold winds blowing into the city sending a chill down the spines of the kine, as they bunker down for the dreadful time of the year. The homeless streetwise diving deeper into the dark recesses of the city. Others like a great herd to the cities wild center wishpering in fear of the devils night is once again drawing closer.

Pallagrade is quickly coming upon the crown jewel of the Sabbat. With packs of nomads from near and far finding there way through the wilds and the barrens to the temples of caine. They are as always seeking to bolster their supplies in preperation for the hardy celebrations of the sword. So gather up your pack, dust off your holiday best, and come out with your inner monster; and celebrate with the finest the sword has to offer.

Join your brothers and sisters in one voice.

PRAISE CAINE!

Hey folks! As many of you joined us at KoNY for September or have been marching in the Cardinals army for years, you know that Pallagrande, our annual holiday event, is just around the corner. This October 25th and 26th we invite all Cainites to join us and revel. We will be hosting our festivities at Tada Studios, 15 West 28th Street, NY, NY 10001, Between Broadway and 5th. With a number of our classic little games of instinct and a few new additions. As always we invite all willing and daring enough to put on a Passion play.

As always this is a dry site; so NO DRINKING, at game, and of course no showing up drunk. Any player that violates this policy will be asked to leave. There is going to be after parties, I am sure, so stay tuned. (I know, I know what kinda palla/sabbat event might it be with out spirits of caine or our jungle juice Vaulderie. But we can subsist off the swords convictions for a few nights, and !ALL THE AWESOME FOOD THAT BEN IS MAKING!.)

Stay tuned as more teasers or information about Palla will likely be popping up over the next few weeks.

As well as I am sure a number of visitors will be scouting out for havens to bunker down in during the dreadful sunlight hours. So in that spirit players are invited to post here if they need crash space or can offer crash space.

And let us not forget those wacky nomads that brave the skies and fly. If players are flying in and needing assistance with getting to and from Airports you are also very welcome to post here.

Thank you all for another awesome year.

KoNY staff.

All this is stolen from Adams Hard work doing this for Hartford. Enjoy.
NOTE: This has not passed council yet, but putting it here for you all to see and talk about.
~Adam
Per Coordinator Bylaw 3Ciii:
"Genre Coordinators must pass before Council any plot, enforced policy, R&U named characters, or binding edict they wish to use which they can reasonably expect to affect multiple chronicles and these proposals need not be seconded, but go immediately into discussion.

   1. If no opposition is voiced during the week of discussion, the proposal is considered passed and enforceable. Once passed these are considered binding to all chronicles and a chronicle's refusal to adhere is grounds for OWBN disciplinary measures. Opposition must be in regards to the content of the proposal and must give those reasons why the objection is voiced. This is to allow Coordinators the opportunity to respond and/or make changes/remove the proposal and its contents."

I Propose this update to the Malkavian Genre Packet. As per normal, there will a 30 day grandfathering process.

R&U Stuff

1) Anyone with Dementation inclan that isn't a Malkavian is Coord Approval.

This is to close the loophole where clan specific disciplines only affected Caitiff, just want to make this clear.

2) The Ability: Babel is Coord Approval.

Something that is more focused on the Ordos and I just don't want to spread too much (but enough :-) )

3) Home grown Dementation Combos are Coord Notify.

I just want to know what's out there, I don't think that that is unreasonable.

4) Any Dementation Combos learned by Non-Malkavians are Coord Notify.

The census shows that we are a-okay as far as I'm concerned, but I would like to keep a finger on the pulse of this.

Other Stuff

I think that there was a pretty solid overhaul of the packet.  We removed the prestige system that was a reaction to the players' request, but didn't work out.  We provided some guidance for Lore for players and STs, put in some suggestions for RP, the MMN, Dementation, derangements, merits, flaws, and all sorts of stuff.  I'm pretty happy with the results.

Let me know if there are questions, comments or concerns.  Thanks.

-Mark

by witch hammer

September 24th, 2013

Hellow my fellow players!

In an effort to raise some more funds for KoNY for Palla Grande we will be holding two special offers next game.  All money donated will be used to make Palla Grande and KoNY as a whole better!  This means better decorations, more food, etc.  So please help out the game and make it a better experience for everyone!  This is of course optional, but any donations are welcome.  See check below to see what we are offering this year!

~Adam

Palla Grande 2013 Fund Raiser!

  • Pallae Grande 2013 retests: Starting at the September Kings of New York Game and continuing up into the Palla Grande event, Kings of New York will be selling “Palla Grande 2013” retests.  Much like the charity retests of the past, these “Palla Grande 2013” retests may be used in any scene or challenge run by a Storyteller or Narrator.  They may not be used against fellow players as per usual, and they last until Palla Grande of next year.  “Palla Grande 2013” retests may be purchased at game for five dollars a retest.  A player may purchase as many as he so chooses.  Each retest will be signed and dated by the storyteller they are purchased from.
  • Raffle: KoNY will be hosting a raffle for fun prizes next game for your PCs, and help raise money for Palla Grande! One dollar gets you one ticket, with no limit to the amount of tickets you may buy.  We will be doing a raffle for each prize at this coming game.  Only one person may win one prize (lets spread the wealth).  Each prize won comes with an appropriate story for your PC on how they gained their prize.  Any prizes won by a player for PC not based in KoNY, have no guarantee they may redeem their prizes in their home game.  This year we are doing magic items.  These items are NOT Fetishes, but rather strange items one can in theory get in the world of darkness.  This list is:
  1. Heart of a Giant
    1. A Large heart rumored to be from the time of when Giants walked the earth.  The heart allows vampires to have a separate store of blood able to be accessed at any time.
  2. Skull of an Ancient
    1. An engraved vampire skull from ancient times.  The skull has the power to calm or incite the beast in those who hold it.
  3. Vestment’s of Devotion
    1. These priest robes were crafted by two renowned individuals. The Tzimisce tailor Carrion Marcon and the Lasombra priscus Leila Monroe craft these robes for the clergy of the Sabbat. They have created robes for Pack Priests, Bishops, Archbishops, Prisci, Cardinals, and even the Regent himself. They are by no means common, and are considered a great honor and mark of prestige as a member of the sabbat clergy to own a robe created by them. The pair, however, only craft the robes as prestigious gifts or for famous members of the sect. Your average member of the Sabbat is considered lucky to have seen a Vestment of Devotion, let alone own one. Those who own the robes say they give mystical properties to the priest. That when worn a priest becomes a better priest. He is more charismatic and his ritae never fails. Unsurprisingly, the Vestments of Devotion resemble the actual Catholic robes of the various offices in the Sabbat. There are differences however, the robes always have a hint of purple, are very ornate, and often have trim written in Enochian.
  4. 4.       Brass Heart Shield
    1. a.       This brass plate when placed under the skin and over the heart of a vampire prevents him from being staked by non magical stakes.
  5. 5.       Ivory Bow
    1. This finally crafted bow made of Ivory causes the arrows from it to inflict aggravated damage against vampires and lupines.
  6. 6.       Powder of Rigidity
    1. A fine red powder that when blown onto those who have the capability of shapeshifting will find themselves to be unable to do so for a time.
  7. 7.       Rowan Ring
    1. a.       A simple wooden ring that when commanded turns into a stake.
  8. 8.       Bloodstar
    1. a.       A Simple blood red ruby necklace grants a vampire the ability to retain the strength granted by his blood for a longer duration then normal.
  9. 9.       Shroud of the Hashashin
    1. A Simple cloak made out of the feathers of an eagle granted the user an increased stealth ability.
  10. Fae Charm
    1. Rumored to have been crafted by the Fair Folk, this amulet increases the beauty of its wearer.
