Another topic of discussion, what sort of plots do people enjoy?
I've copied the text from the Camarillan genre thread ffrom people who included plot information.
From Dave Yeisley:
As always, having fun with it comes down to the execution, the devil in the details. This is more a comment on enjoying the game than on the vision of the genre itself, but I tend to think it works best when players get to experience scenes that allow their PC to do things that match how they envision their PC, and help express the story they want their PC to tell within the story of the chronicle. Accomplishing goals is only part of it, though an important one, but is also heavily reliant on PCs being able to fulfill their concepts (as defined by their players) even when their personal goals are not directly involved.
I can say some of the best times I have ever had with this game were when I felt like the staff were, for lack of a better term, 'fans' of my PC and other PCs, and wanted to see those characters and their stories grow though both successes and occaisional failures.
From Anthony G:
[Dave Y.'s quote]
This is a great attitude for STs to have, so I'll just emphasize it.
As for my own opinion, I think a good game needs more than just 1 theme. Yes politics is fun. But if that's all the game has, than it becomes stale. Yes combat is fun, but if that's all there is to it than it too becomes stale. Yes, weirdness from left field is fun, but if that's all there's to it, than it becomes stale.
A good game balances many different themes. You can have Camarilla politics... than have something completely weird and unexpected... than throw in some combat... and you get a good complex game.
Not only does it satisfy everyone, but through the mix you make each theme better. Political events become more eventful when politics doesn't occur constantly, Violence becomes more exciting when there isn't a blood bath every night, and Weirdness stands out much more when it can contrast to long episodes of normalcy.
So, I say, our game should have a bit of everything.
That's my 2 cents.
