December Game 12/22: Yule

by Dave N

December 1st, 2018

IC

At the urging of someone who shall remain nameless, Duchess Autumn has opened the doors of Castle Craig, the Ducal Freehold, and invited everyone to a Yule party.  Yule is, believe it or not, primarily an Unseelie holiday, when a large number of Unseelie Childlings chrysalis  and gifts of items crafted with Glamour are exchanged - the Unseelie believe that crafting Glamour into Treasures helps it to last in the Autumn world, rather than be wasted, and so Treasures are sometimes exchanged as presents.

OOC INFO

Our December game, as noted below, will be located at 76 Main St SouthingtonCT 06489.  There is a large parking lot located behind the street area: if you've been to Winds in the West, it will be the one you're familiar with.  If you ever went out to eat at, say Fireplace, when various games were at the Southington site, it's the parking lot behind that strip.  Doors open at 1pm.

POT LUCK

This will be a special pot luck session for the holidays!  The downstairs room has tables for meals and a large kitchen.  I wouldn't plan on full on cooking anything there, but we can heat dishes up if we need to.  Slow cookers are good, also.  Please comment below with what you would like to bring, and also with any particularly sensative allergies you might have that people need to avoid.  EXAMPLE: 'any peanuts in the room at all will kill me.  Do not bring them.'

THE THRONE ROOM

The Upstairs location will be the Throne Room.  Food and drink are not allowed upstairs, so eat your fill downstairs.  We will have IC and OOC announcments about the upstairs location.

Game 11/24: Armies in the Mists

by Dave N

November 21st, 2018

Thank you all for filling out Samhain forms!  We'll be playing this Saturday at the Cosmic Omelette at our regular time of 2:30.  We should have some fun post-samhain scenes for you :)

Additionally, lots of things have been happening regionally and nationally.  I'm thinking we may split the game and begin with post-samhain scenes, then move forward to November 24 IC so as to not force people to ignore current events.

Game 10/27 "Psycho Killer" 2:30pm Cosmic Omelette

by Dave N

October 9th, 2018

As Samhain approaches, a stranger from the land of eight million dreams has warned the Duchy of Mirrors that a serial killer who hunts and kills faeries has come to their home!

Join us this Saturday 10/27 for our last game before Samhain.  While the game will take place at night IC, it will be a day game OOC.  It is getting cold, and there is talk of a storm coming this weekend.  With that in mind, stay tuned: if the weather looks bad by wednesday or so, this may end up being our first indoor game of the winter, rather than our last outdoor game of the autumn.

UPDATE: 2:30 PM AT THE COSMIC OMELETTE ART SPACE.  FEEL FREE TO GO EARLY FOR BREAKFAST :)

Game 9/29: Stay Gold

by Dave N

September 24th, 2018

Summer turns to Autumn, and there is a hint of fire in the trees as Samhain approaches.  The Seelie year draws to a close, and the Unseelie season of winter approaches - and with it, the dying of the year.

After the claiming of the Templar piece of the Key to the Triumph Casque of Sorrows, the faeries of the Duchy of Mirrors prevailed upon Duchess Autumn to exile all Knights of the Mithril Spur from Connecticut.  In the Autumn World, a string of unsolved crimes continues to bedevil the local constabulatory....

Join us for our September Game!  Not our usual weekend, and only me STing, so please, be kind!  Assuming good weather, we'll be outside at 205 Hollister.  If it looks like rain, I'll update this to let you know if we're inside at the Cosmic Omelette :)

Approvals (We're tapped out!)

by Dave N

September 20th, 2018

So, Graymere Glen now has more approvals logged for Coord Approval Arts than any other Changeling game in the org.  Congrats, guys!

That does mean, however, that for the foreseeable future we won't be getting any more.  I can certainly broach the subject again in 6 months or so with Eric, but for now approvals are closed.

In other news... (Art Restrictions)

by Dave N

September 16th, 2018

We are aware that there is, at this time, simply less Powerz to buy in Changeling than in other genres.  I'm hoping the upcoming Player's Guide from Onyx Path will help to alleviate this, but I'm also keeping an eye on our point totals, and the higher end is approaching the point where we need to open up more options.  (Having half a dozen requests approval for restricted arts in like a 2 month period was also a clue)

Therefore, we are lifting our restrictions on Seasonal Arts, effective immediately.  Buy as many as you like, and enjoy. (Spring 5 still requires Coord approval)

Secondly, we are now allowing the OWBN created Art Repast, which Eric has updated for C20 as follows:

New Art: Repast

There are as many tales of the delights of fairy food as there are warnings to not consume it in their halls of power. Repast is the magic of pastries and stews, roasts and brews and is among the oldest fae arts, often passed down from parents or fosters to children and wards. There is no specific dish that needs to be prepared for the effects to take place: pancakes work as well as sushi. Use of this art requires possession of appropriate craft abilities. Note that this art is a typically a commoner art, particularly common among bogans and nockers. While one very famous sidhe had an affinity for a red fruit, she was an exception. This art only functions for the living and only for beings who are described by the realms used in casting. As a note, while these delights can be given as gifts and they expire in 6 months. Further, overuse of this art should may not be used to stockpile magic effects in excess and if it becomes excessive we will regulate how many of a player’s enchanted cinnamon rolls are floating about. In order to affect a particular subject, the appropriate Realms must be used: a magic pomegranate which was only created with Fae 1 will have no effect on the chimerical musk ox who eats it.

Note: The tests involved in this art are to prepare the food and those who consume it must to so willingly, by compulsion or through trickery. There are no tests to resist the effects unless specified by the cantrip.

Stone Soup:

You may create delicious and filling means with nothing but the sparsest ingredients, even just stones or water. You may add the Grades of Success gained in the casting to any levels of craft: cooking or related fields you have. For each Grade of Success gained in the casting, those consuming it may go a day without any other sustenance. Further, the first time in a day someone consumes a meal created by Stone Soup they regain a lost Willpower.

The Milk of Human Kindness:

This cantrip involves the brewing or preparation of beverages which instill powerful emotions in those who imbibe them. Despite the name, the emotions need not be positive. Those imbibing the brew feel a strong surge of the emotion specified for the scene which persists in a lower form for the remainder of the session. They feel this emotion is natural and resist attempts to persuade them otherwise. STs should enforce these emotions (those who are feeling joy should not be able to initiate combat, for example, unless they are attacked of course). These brews may be brewed specifically to concentrate anger, joy or enlightenment, restoring a lost Rage, Pathos or Gnosis/Quintessence respectively, though no one may gain more than 1 such temper plus 1 per 2 full Grades of Success gained in the casting and may not gain further tempers from the Milk of Human Kindness for the remainder of the session.

Intermediate:

Forbidden Fruit:

No one would accuse the unseelie of avoiding this art and they are pleased to use it for their own devices. Mortals or semi-supernaturals consuming the fruit (or other dishes) prepared by this cantrip either die or fall into a slumber forever until a condition set by the caster (or a true love’s kiss) revives them. Supernatural beings consuming this fruit suffer 7 levels of aggravated damage, (bypassing all physical forms of armor or protection, though Fortitude still works normally) or fall into a sleep for 1 month per Grade of Success gained in the casting. The sleep involved is supernatural and cannot be broken by anything short of genuine attempts to end their life (so no allies doing so), though they may be contacted in their dreams if one has the means to do so. Unlike other levels of this Art, individuals may not be magically compelled to eat this fruit: only trickery or genuine acceptance work.

The Bread of Fairyland:

This cantrip causes long-lasting enchantments but traps people in the realms of the dreaming. Upon consuming this food, the subject becomes enchanted. However, they also feel compelled to remain among the fae, to the detriment of their normal lives. The base duration of this cantrip is one month per Grade of Success. After that, the subject may opt to make a social challenge against the caster every month to shake off the effect, at which point the mists take full effect. Strong reminders of home or pleas by loved ones may also allow such a challenge by ST discretion.

Advanced:

Ambrosia:

The art of baking magic itself into treats and cookies is a potent one and its roots in the golden apples that were first consumed by gods to stay young forevermore. With this powerful and delicious cantrip, the caster may store a cantrip in a morsel of food. Once it is consumed, the cantrip takes effect on the one eating it using the caster’s traits and the realms used in the casting (thus, if a human eats a caramel apple only infused with the Fae realm, it has no effect). Grades of Success, however, are limited to 1: there is only so much magic a fruit cake can hold, no matter how dense. STs have the final call on which cantrips can be stored. You may not have more Ambrosia creations active at any one time than you have traits of permanent glamour.

September Game

by Dave N

September 11th, 2018

Sarah and I have a wedding to go to on the usual day of game.

There is, however, a 5th weekend in the month.  What alternative dates work for people?
