Status, and how it works

by Jon G.

June 14th, 2012

Status ranges from 1-5.  You can spend a Politics ability to find out somebody's status if you know their name, or can observe them in Elysium for at least 5 minutes while they interact with people.

We'll update the Status based on what we are told by the Harpy/Council of Birds/Conceirge/Primogen/Castellan/Chamberlain tells us.  There's no mechanics behind it, and it technically doesn't do anything.  That being said, many Kindred place great stock in it as a measure of each other.

If you'd like to know your own status, feel free to spend that Politics :-)

Learning Stuff

by Jon G.

June 13th, 2012

If you posted what you were learning, and who was teaching you, your "XP log" should now reflect these changes.  If you see this symbol:

[Complete]

On your XP entry, then you're cleared to add the dot to your sheet :-)

If we missed you, or you haven't posted yet, go ahead and put up a post in your journal, and we'll get you.

Unbroken Circle Players

by charlier

June 8th, 2012

Hello, darlings-

For those of you who joined the Unbroken Circle (you know who you are), and did NOT give me the answer to the question I asked you, please respond in your journals.

If you do not give me an answer before next game, the default answer will be "No", and all that that entails.

Thanks!

Charlie

Backgrounds, Backgrounds, Backgrounds

by Ben Russell

June 7th, 2012

First, thanks to all the people posting their character information for us in their journals.

As a reminder, the staff needs from you a description of how your backgrounds are defined, as XP isn't spent on backgrounds, they're earned through RP.

For example, for say someone locally famous (an artist or athlete):

Resources: I'm a trust fund vampire

Contacts: Bartenders and bouncers

Allies: my posse/ entourage

That's all we really need.

Mechanics Questions

by Ben Russell

June 7th, 2012

Just a quick reminder for everyone: If you have mechanics questions, please direct them to the dropbox email address, rather than as a journal entry.

That makes it incredibly easy for the staff to discuss, make a ruling, possibly clarify the wiki, and get back to you, with the entire staff aware of the final ruling.

Sheets and Stuff

by Ben Russell

June 5th, 2012

All the packages from Player's Day and Game #1 have been entered. If you're waiting for a copy of your sheet, let me know an email, and I'll mail an RTF to you. If I've sent you an email or a PM with information that was missing or unclear from your package, please do one of the following:

1. Reply directly to me, with the information.

2. If the information has been entered into your copy (aka Puppet), either reply here or send me a PM that the information has been entered.

This will make sure all character sheet corrections are kept updated.

If you spoke with the staff about making some minor revisions to your sheet, please send me a PM with those revisions.

Hartford, Hunting & You

by Jon G.

May 22nd, 2012

This is Hartford:

Hartford

It's a pretty swell place to be a Kindred.  It contains 17 recognized neighborhoods, as traditionally divided.  Here's the list:

  1. Asylum Hill
  2. Barry Square
  3. Behind The Rocks
  4. Blue Hills
  5. Clay Arsenal
  6. Downtown
  7. Frog Hollow
  8. Parkville
  9. North East
  10. North Meadows
  11. Sheldon Charter Oak
  12. South Green
  13. South Meadows
  14. South End
  15. South West
  16. Upper Albany
  17. West End

There's also a few metro level burbs that get rolled into Greater Hartford.  Here's that list (with neighborhoods split out for the larger ones):

  1. Bloomfield
  2. East Hartford
    1. Hockanum
    2. Burnside Ave
    3. Mayberry Village
  3. Glastonbury
  4. Manchester
  5. Newington
  6. South Windsor
  7. West Hartford
    1. Blue Back Square
    2. Bishops's Corner
    3. West Farms
    4. Asylum (Includes St. Joseph's College & UConn Greater Hartford)
  8. Wethersfield
  9. Windsor

Feeding in any of those places is considered "Feeding in the City."  If you're regularly travelling outside of that to feed, then you're "Feeding outside the City."  Kindred being creatures of the city, the first one is a heck of a lot easier.  If you're feeding outside the city, you're going to need a hunting scene.

All of that anyone with Streetwise 1 would know.  Here's a breakdown about what you know feedingwise at various Streetwise:

  1. Streetwise 1 - The stuff posted above.  Also that Core Neighborhoods (the 17) tend to have better hunting than Periphery Neighborhoods (The second list)
  2. Streetwise 2 - The easiest and hardest feeding, as well as the safest and most dangerous, generally speaking
    1. Easiest is Downtown, Hardest is South Meadows
    2. Safest is West End, Most Dangerous is Mayberry Village
  3. Streetwise 3 - Full breakdown of easiest to hardest of the Core Neighborhoods
    1. Top Tier - Downtown
    2. Second Tier - West End
    3. Third Tier - Blue Hills, Frog Hollow, Barry Square
    4. Fourth Tier - South West, Asylum Hill, South End, Behind The Rocks, Upper Albany, Parkville, North East, Clay Arsenal, North Meadows
    5. Fifth Tier - South Green, South Meadows, Sheldon Charter Oak
  4. Streetwise 4 - Full breakdown of easiest to hardest of Periphery Neighborhoods, and how they rank in relation to the Core
    1. Top Tier - N/A
    2. Second Tier - N/A
    3. Third Tier - Manchester (the whole town, it's not good enough to break up)
    4. Fourth Tier - Burnside Ave, Mayberry Village, Glastonbury, Wethersfield, Newington, Blue Back Square, Bishops's Corner, Asylum (West Hartford Portion), Bloomfield, Windsor, South Windsor
    5. Fifth Tier - Hockanum, West Farms

You can also spend a streetwise when you're about to feed to know both how hard it would be, and how dangerous, but you generally only need to do that if you've been tagged for a hunting scene.

You can also spend a streetwise to know if anyone has hunted a particular neighborhood already this month, or if it's pristine.  Won't tell you who, when, or how many, but can tip you off that you'd like to declare particular RPable actions towards finding those things off.

Now that you know what's what, and where's where, tag a journal entry "Hunting", and less us know where you do that.  We'll take care of all the math, and let people who need hunting scenes know who they are.  We'll also assume you use your herd and factor that in for you.  If you're full, we'll let you know that.  If you're full and you care how much extra you didn't bother to drink that you had lying around, because you're interested, or you'd like to try storing it, let us know, and we'll tell you that too.

Oh, and we (the staff) won't be enforcing any Domains or Hunting Grounds that have been handed out.  That's for you to do, or not do, as you desire :-)

Happy Hunting!
