Downtime Time

by Nightmares

March 19th, 2014

Downtime actions are the actions between game. Every player automatically has 3. This can be modified in a number of ways including Merits, Flaws, and Abilities.

We recommend putting your total number of downtime actions as your final entry in your "Backgrounds" section, so the STs and you can quick reference. The default is that any actions costs 1 DTA. Due to plot or circumstance the STs could require more.

Downtime actions can be used to:

  • Learn Out of Clan or Elder Disciplines
  • Crafting
  • Feeding (Not using a DTA to feed results in you starting game with Half Blood rounded down. Dots of herd can be used to replace DTAs for Feeding.)
  • Investigations (May require chops)
  • Patrolling (Which will become more beneficial as territory is decided.)
  • Obtaining beyond your means (ST discretion)

We will also require a DTA(s) to learn new a new Lore or Language or to Drop & Swap Merits

For those who like to write story chronicles or synopsises of game, that's fine, keep doing that, but PLEASE PLEASE bullet your downtime actions and note in the Title of the Journal post that there are DTAs in the post so we see them.

Experience Points

by Nightmares

March 18th, 2014

Please feel free to award yourselves XP from game and spend them. Keep in mind if you're learning something from someone else (including NPCs), there needs to be downtime actions spent to do so.

If you back-bought the preview event (or backbuy any other event in the future) please note that in the Experience earned note.

A post is forthcoming that summarized our Downtime expectations for usage of influence and DTAs

[IC NEWS] Local Security Professional to Receive Special Honor

by Nightmares

March 17th, 2014

NEW HAVEN - Local Security professional Ralph Puchalsky became a local hero this weekend when what he described as a regular shift turned into a life saving situation.

"I got a call from Platform 6 that a man was injured and required an ambulance. I made the call and rushed to the Platform. He must have been attacked by some kind of animal like a coyote or something. He was bleeding a lot of blood."

Mr. Puchalsky performed life saving measures to slow the bleeding from an apparent throat wound until New Haven EMS arrived to transport to Yale-New Haven.

The victim, 32 year old Mike Holland of Farmington, is reportedly in stable condition.

Mr. Pulchalsky, a 11 year veteran of Second City Security, will be honored by the mayors office Tuesday in a special ceremony inside the New Haven Train Station.

A call to Animal Control for comment was not returned by press time.

The Nightmare Begins - Thank You

by Nightmares

March 17th, 2014

When we said "Come Play a Game with your Friends" you took every part of that seriously. You came to play with your friends, but more importantly you came to play.

Thank you so much for being awesome gamers. We look forward to next game, but more immedaitely, our first round of DTAs. We will make a post next week around expectations on DTAs so those are clear.

If you missed this game or wanted to let others test the waters first, remember we allow backbuying of missed events for half XP! If you're looking for character ties, feel free to post here a Clan or concept you're interested in playing and staff or another player will scoop you up I'm sure.

Again, our sincere gratitude for helping us launch Nightmares.

Until our next sleep...

((A side note on our website launch, I had to delay this a couple of days for processing of first game data, but an announcement will be made here on launch.))

[IC NEWS] Escalating Gang Violence in New Haven "Number 1 Concern"

by Nightmares

March 15th, 2014

NEW HAVEN - The gang problem in the city which has escalated over the past decade has finally been acknowledged by city leadership. This morning, in front of city hall, Deputy Mayor Doug Spaulding promised gathered reporters and citizens that the problem was going to take center stage.

"We recognize the need for people to feel safe, day or night, on the streets of New Haven. Gang on gang violence has proven more than troublesome in the past and with recent escalations leading to property damage, injury and worse to civilians, and a critically injured officer at Yale New Haven, you can be assured that quelling this gang violence is our number one concern"

The Deputy Mayor went on to speak about organizing a "Gangbusters" Task Force within the current police structure and encouraging community watchdogs to report suspected gang activity.

Public opinion of city leadership has been in question since the incident last month involving Officer David Rudy being shot during a routine traffic stop placing him in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital and the shooter still at large.

Follow Plot on Twitter

by Christory Book

March 13th, 2014

New England Nightmares has a twitter account.

We're going to be experimenting with Twitter based plot hooks over the first couple of games. Its completely optional (a lot like most plots) but we would definitely appreciate participation.

Here's how it will work:

During game the STs will hook a plot by posting something on the New England Nightmares twitter (@nenightmares) - we will use the Hashtags to indicate some possible leads to the plot. The tweet will represent someone your character knows giving them the heads up on whatever the situation may be.

If you follow Twitter on your mobile device it will alert you of the tweet. You may then do as you wish... sell the info IC... get more info from a nearby ST... grab another PC or two and chase the plot...

An example might work like this:

Grisly scene down behind Rudy's, funky looking neck wound, lots of blood. #MarchGame #MasqueradeBreach #2ndBodythismonth

This is a pilot for us and we would appreciate participation. Its another way for us to distribute plot hints. Here is the link to the Twitter Page: https://twitter.com/NENightmares

3 days till game!
