Beltane Details

by Anthony Donihee

March 25th, 2016

"We'll have the final details out soon, but as a reminder it's May 27-30 in Orange, CT. Unfortunately, our site fees went up so pre-reg is going to be $45 this year, and payment at the site will be $60 (a $5 / $10 increase respectively). That will still include lodging and at least 2 dinners on Sat/Sun." - Jason Place

I know people wanted exact dates and prices.

March 13th, 2016

Game on: 2pm SHARP. I have a wedding that mornig and will be there no later than 2 pm.

Location: Wickham Park. There is an open field by the Marco Polo Resturant. People who wish to save some money may park on the side street between the resturant and park.

*Please bring any camping chairs you have, if you wish to make sure you are able to sit on something other than the ground.*

Game is cancelled.

I apologize for the last minute cancellation. My kids have gotten sick, while at the above mentioned wedding, and Marc is in Baltimore for Glitter and Gloom.

Upcoming items: Beltane is happening soon. If you wish to attend please reply to this thread with the character name you wish to play.

Also, there was talk of hosting our own campout. Staff is looking at the 3rd or 4th weekend of July. Please reply with your preference so we can promote to other games in the area. It will also give us a rough head count so we can determine how many campsites we will need. We want to use Devil's Hopyard for the campout. We want to use Friday Night, all Day Saturday, and clean up Sunday. Greymere Glen has been invited to run plot at the camp out as well. Each campsite is $16 a night, 6 people/2 cars per campsite for residents of ct.

ic news reports

In Newington, there has been a motion to create a memorial park and hiking trails. This is in response to the buried chemicals. The goal is to create an area of natural beauty to remind people why to protect the planet.

In Hartford, the state is again having difficulties balancing the budget. There is discussion to sell off some state land to various businesses. Officials will be inspecting various state properties over the upcoming months. Surveying is expected to start after the snow melts.

Jan 16th

by Anthony Donihee

January 18th, 2016

In the evening of January 16h, the Red Star shines brightly for several minutes, it's baleful glow casting malevolence at the earth, before it shatters and fades.  It will be invisible to the naked eye at that point, but fragments of it will still exist, visible to telescope, appropriate supernatural perception, and the fragments are still present in the Umbrae.

A day or two later, news stories will circulate

"The plutino designated 28978 Ixion, near the outer orbit of Neptune and Pluto, appears to have undergone another change.  Almost 15 years ago, it began to shine faintly red, becoming visible in the night sky and leading to its discovery.  Scientists were unsure why this occurred, but most believe that an impact may have altered the surface of the small body, stripping away much of the surface, making it more reflective, and causing it to begin travelling measurably toward the inner solar system.  Scientists are unsure whether a second impact occurred or if the stressed body simply finally broke apart under stress from the original impact, but they have confirmed that the 650km wide plutino has fractured into smaller pieces in a brief light show.  This event is unusual, as quick changes are rare in astronomy and astrophysics, and most of those quick events involve stars going supernova and similar phenomena.  Helen Riggs, astrophysicist with Mauna Kea Observatory, quipped 'It's quite an exciting event.  It's important to remember that just because it happened somewhat near pluto's orbit doesn't mean it's anywhere near where the New Horizons probe was sent, it's actually almost on the opposite side of the solar system.  We hope to get more data as to what happened, but it's going to require some careful and focused observations over quite a few years.'"
