We have had a number of new and newer players come into KoNY over the past year or so, and I myself am still a new player by most standards. While I'm hardly an expert I'd like to present a few basic bits of advice about roleplaying and about building sheets. I'd love for other STs or more experienced players to chime in here with their own takes as well.
1: Please spend xp on traits. Traits are good, they are how you do things, and running out of them is really bad. Mechanically there is no good reason not to max out all of your trait categories, though I certainly respect if you choose not to for roleplay reasons.
2: Know what your powers do. Make cheat sheets for yourself if you have to. The stuff on your sheet can't help you if you don't remember what it does or how to use it to your advantage.
3: If you find yourself in combat, and someone is using a weapon, that weapon probably has negative traits. Negative traits are a powerful tool and knowing how to use them--and remembering to use them, can come in very handy. Even experienced players often forget to call weapon negative traits.
4: Just because the xp total on your sheet is a small number, doesn't mean your character can't be powerful or socially assertive. Actual power level often takes a backseat to perceived power level. I'm not saying act like a huge asshole to everyone (well I mean, it worked for me with Amir but your mileage may vary), but not being daunted by other characters can go a long way, and it doesn't take a whole pile of xp to be dangerous--socially or otherwise.
5: Ask questions! Ask questions of STs and Narrators, we will give you honest and reasonable answers and help you as well as we can. We really like this hobby and this game and we would love to help you get as much enjoyment out of it as possible.

My Fellow Brothers and Sisters of New York City,
Homeland Security, a very powerful mortal organization, is out in force investigating the city. It is the reason why those of you with power may have been recently blocked. Use your wits and your stealth if and when you do hunt to avoid detection.
The epidemic that is causing unwanted transformations will make it doubly more difficult for you to be stealthy in your hunts. Work with your packmates, particularly your abbots, in securing your meals effectively.

As an ooc announcement, I will be heading into finals soon. For law school, we only have one exam per class, the final. This involves a month long of preparation time. So even though I take my exams in early May, I'll pretty much be living at my library.
I've told the staff long ahead of time that I'm going to be stepping away for a month. I ask your patience as well, since I may not be available much -- if at all. I'll be back in late May.
Two players of my Templars (Kevin/Brittany) will also be going into finals. Likely same holds true for them.
