New England Nightmares Presents

In The House of Madness

As the newly emergent power of Europe, Avalon has made its first truly aggressive move as it seized the domain of Boston from the Alliance. With the Red Tide gone, many are realizing that the barrier it maintained between the old world and the new had its purpose.

With tensions in the domain running high, the Prince has called the next gathering of Kindred to be held at 225 Church Street, an apartment building commonly called ‘The Malkavian Sanctuary’.

Under the stewardship of Primogen William Bradshaw, the building is home to many Malkavians now. As a result the internal architecture of the building has become somewhat... transcendental. Visitors are advised not to go wandering without a Malkavian escort.

What could possibly go wrong?

Game is On for next Saturday

The next exciting installment of New England Nightmares is running next Saturday the 20th August at Friendship Lodge in Southington. Doors open at 6pm and we aim to start game at around 7.

See you all in a week!

New DTA deadline is tonight!

July 7th, 2019

DTA Deadline is tonight!

Just a quick reminder for you all, the new DTA deadline is this evening, Sunday July 7th. Please get your actions in before tonight, to give us plenty of time to respond to you.

Game is on for 20th July!

We will be running Nightmares on our usual slot of the third Saturday of the month, as our usual venue in Friendship Lodge, Southington. However this game we have a couple of challenges we don’t usually have. First, the main room upstairs will not be available for us to use, due to refurbishing work. Secondly, we will be missing Dan from the ST team for the evening, leaving Sam and Eric to run the event without him. So please excuse us if we both look a little more tired than usual by the end of the evening.

But we are still running, and will be using a slightly different format to usual. And as ever, we are looking forward to seeing you all in two weeks time!

A Declaration from the United Baronies of Avalon

by Nightmares

July 5th, 2019

A Declaration from Avalon

I, Timothy Masoni of Clan Ventrue, the one True Heir of Mithras, Monarch of the Baronies of Avalon and Prince of London, do hereby declare that the City of Boston, Massachusetts, is once again, the territory of Avalon.

Our forces retook the city last night and expelled the Alliance forces that had been infesting that city for so many years. I hereby return the Praxis of Boston to its true and rightful ruler, William King. As it was his seat of power when the colonies were first founded, it is only fitting that it returns to him now, on the very date that the Colonies foolishly declared their Independence. Long live, Vassal Prince William King of Boston!

Boston is now under my protection! The forces of Avalon will defend it from any attempt by outside forces to disrupt the rule of the Vassal Prince.

Along with this declaration, I also issue a simple warning.

Do not interfere with our affairs. I promise you will regret any such actions.

I make this declaration, in the name of Mithras!

A Deo rex, a rege lex

CeeVee medical crisis averted by British Entrepreneur

cnn.com 7/3/2019

Sir Basiel Stirling, the owner of Stirling Holdings, an international trading and shipping company, showed incredible altruism towards those afflicted by fatal withdrawal caused by the recent disappearance of CeeVee from the northeast USA. Working in full cooperation with the Meshtemple Group, Stirling Holdings has imported large quantities of the medications necessary to enact the Meshtemple protocols on a large scale.

While the importing of medications to abate this crisis was already being considered by several major Pharmaceutical companies, the choice of Sir Stirling was to donate these medications to the Meshtemple foundation, whose experts are now working for free at over a hundred hospitals.

Sir Basiel declined to be interviewed, but a spokesperson for Stirling Holdings, a Ms Reilly Abbott, made the following statement.

“Sir Basiel sincerely believes that the urgency of this crisis meant that businessmen that could take action, had to do so without concern for profit. He felt that saving lives, in this instance, was more important.”

The generosity of Stirling Holdings has undoubtedly saved thousands of lives, as all victims of this terrible plague are now receiving treatment, and the strain on hospitals has been greatly reduced.

Death Toll rises as deadly drug disappears without explanation...

Mass withdrawal deaths as killer drug vanishes!

CNN.com - June 21st 2019

The deadly and mysterious drug known by many names (Crystal Red, CeeVee, Clown Nose) has abruptly disappeared from the streets across North Eastern America. The ubiquity of the drug, it’s health risks and it’s addictive profile being higher than even Crack Cocaine or Heroin, was becoming a blight on American life.

Users came from all walks of life, the police seemed helpless to prevent the spread of it and even withdrawal was fatal in 2 out of 3 cases. But a few months ago some hope arose, when the Meshtemple protocols were developed, allowing for treatment of withdrawal using existing medications.

However it appears that in this past week, the supply of Crystal Red has completely stopped. Addicts cannot get a hold of even the cheapest forms of the drugs anymore. And while this might seem like cause for celebration, the reality is much more grim.

The number of addicts lost to fatal withdrawal is now numbered at 654. And that number is expected to rise into the thousands as hospitals are forced to ruthlessly triage their supply of the medications required for the Meshtemple Protocols.

This crisis is also spilling over into other areas of medicine, as the Meshtemple protocols use a combination of drugs (such as Metoprolol, Entresto and Warfarin) that are also necessary for treating heart conditions and stroke victims. And the resultant medication shortfall has caused 12 deaths so far from non-CeeVee related conditions.

Experts estimate the casualties to rise as medication supplies are further strained.

New England Nightmares presents….

Rigors of Diplomacy

The Domain of New haven is host to many foreign guests, during these turbulent nights. And these guests bring more notoriety and attention to the city. While the former Prince of London and his extensive coterie of allies, ghouls and retainers, takes shelter behind Prince Jennings’ hospitality.

A Political Refugee

The word of a Prince in any city is law, even a Justicar pauses before challenging this ancient tradition. But DeMontford is a wanted man, by both the Baronies of Avalon, for abandoning the UK, and by the Ventrue Justicar, for debriefing and interrogation. But until he has more assurances of his safety, he will not yield anything to Justicar Lucinde. And despite his recent losses, DeMontford is still powerful Elder, and his allies are equally as dangerous and cunning. So a political stand-off endures in the city, with Prince Jennings holding all the cards.

Unrest Abounds

In recent months, the city of New Haven has come into an era of relative peace. The once crime ridden streets are now much safer to walk, murders, muggings and gang wars are virtually gone. Some like to think that an efficient police force and strong community spirit are responsible. Others whisper that ‘The Mob’ has become more powerful and cunning than ever before and has simply ‘privatized’ crime in the city, keeping it out of sight of the ordinary citizen, while monopolizing the black market.

But other cities in New England are in much worse states. CeeVee is still rampant in Hartford, Stamford and Waterbury, and even the Meshtemple Protocols cannot treat the number of addicts that are ending up in the free clinics. The city of Hartford still remains as ‘no-man's’ land, and the streets are a warzone between Anarch Gangs, rogue Sabbat Packs, Alliance thugs, Camarilla forces working for Theo Bell and even mortal Hunters. And many of these groups turn to CeeVee and the temporary power it grants, to keep their enemies at bay. While New Haven remains strong, the world around the city is crumbling.

Something has to change… and soon…

Game is on Next Saturday 15th June

Doors will be open at Friendship Lodge in Southington at 6pm as usual. Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Downtime Deadline is tonight!

Get your DTAs in please before midnight tonight! We are finding that with the number of players we have now that we are needing more time to get the DTAs completed before game. So as of next month, the DTA deadline will now be two weeks prior to game, rather than one. This is so we can continue to provide you all with the level of detail in our responses that we have been.

Echoes of Blood

Prince Jennings welcomed the domain to his newly refurbished club for the evening, in an exclusive area of the New Haven downtown. As the court came together, it became clear this would be a busy night…

A Prince in Exile

Many members of the court were stunned to see the now-deposed Prince of London walk into the venue, flanked by two of his childer, and practically throw himself on the mercy of Prince Jennings.

Sir John DeMontford, Elder of Clan Ventrue, and the figurehead who announced that the UK was no longer a part of the Camarilla, negotiated with his Clan mate for hospitality and protection. he requested something referred to as ‘The Ethic of Succor’ which only the Ventrue in the room seemed to understand.

DeMontford’s childer also circulated around the court, each with a different agenda. Lord Montgomery Watson, former Harpy of London, sought allies for his brood, trading his esoteric knowledge for favors. However his other child, Hans Nyder, a former officer of the Nazi SS, seemed to wish to interrogate members of the court, and managed to make himself thoroughly disliked in a very short time.

However, DeMontford seemed to come to some kind of deal with the Prince, and the three of them left with his hospitality.

The Mass Abduction

Shortly afterwards, the entire domain was affected by some form of immensely powerful magic.  All members of the court were mystically transported to East Rock Park, and shifted into the Shadowlands, the plane of existence where the souls of the restless dead reside.

There the entire domain found themselves facing the nameless Necromancer and his hoard of wraiths and specters. He immediately began drawing power from every kindred present, taking the very energy within their Vitae to empower his ritual. And the subject of his ritual was a great wraithly three headed beast, an old enemy of the domain known as Triat.

Seneschal Lafayette immediately recognized that the nameless one was attempting to resurrect Triat, so he could threaten the entire domain one more. Gathering all of his necromantic might, he lead the attack as the entire court was plunged into a battle… the undead vs the truly dead…

But the nameless one used dark magic to change the topography of the shadowlands, trapping many kindred in winding mazes of black walls. While the nameless fought with the most powerful members of domain, he separated off one group of kindred to be torn apart by an army of wraiths. While another group he trapped in a maze with the Triat beast, so he could consume their Vitae and complete his resurrection.

But the nameless had underestimated the Senechal’s preparations, and Triat found his ‘helpless’ victims were in fact armed with spectral weapons, forged from the soil of his homeland, his only bane. The group used these weapons to tear through Triat’s previously invulnerable hide and sent his soul to oblivion.

The other group was shielded from the attacking wraiths by the actions of the Scourge and the Nosferatu Primogen Matteo, who used their Fortitude and their wits to prevent other members of the domain from being harmed until help could arrive.

Despite all his might, the combined forces of the domain destroyed the nameless one. And as he fell his body was consumed in flames, revealing the source of his immense power. Infernalism!

Strife between the Blue Bloods

Once the domain had returned to world of the living, the drama in court continued. First, Marcellus, Archon of the Ventrue Justicar, arrived at court and demanded that John DeMontford be brought to him. And was denied!

And hot on his tails, came yet another Elder Ventrue, Thomas Carlyle, Chamberlain of the Baronies of Avalon. Also seeking DeMontford on behalf of the new Prince of London.

Meanwhile, other members of the domain received a final message from an old friend and ally, where they learned more of the dark fate that had befallen him. And the Gangrel abruptly left the Court on some urgent matter, and returned a while later by appearing from nowhere directly in front of the Prince and Seneschal.

New Haven is never a quiet town…

Thankyou and Announcements!

First of all the staff all want to say a big thank you to all of our players. We love the way you all play up the roles of a turbulent Camarillla court, and what you all contribute to the story and the atmosphere of the game!

Also thank you to all of our new players, we hope you enjoyed your first event with us, and we look forward to seeing you again!

As ever please get your DTAs into us as soon as possible!

The Tremere Tribunal

Within the strict authoritarian structure of Clan Tremere, political turmoil has been stirring for some time. A powerful and influential member of the Clan is believed to have committed serious crimes allegedly bypassing the chain of command and violating the Oath. Clan Tremere takes justice within its ranks very seriously, and at the behest of Clayton Lafayette, the war hero who has brought an end to many of the Clan’s enemies, a Tribunal has been called.

A panel of Tremere Regents and Lords will be assembled, and the accused will be brought before them to be judged. Clayton Lafayette, as the Regent calling the Tribunal, will be remaining impartial. His colleague Sir Basiel Stirling, will be prosecuting. And the defendant will undoubtedly find representation to build the case for his defense.

A tribunal of this audacity, since the accused holds immense status within the Camarilla, is a rare and controversial event. Clayton, his future and reputation within the Clan on the line, so certain is he that this Tribunal is righteous and necessary.

Come witness Warlock justice in acton!

Details

As we announced at game, in either July or October, we will be running a smaller ‘pre-game’ event. We are hoping to start the event at around 4:30pm, and then run our normal event afterwards. If you wish to attend, please create a Journal entry entitled ‘Tremere Tribunal’ and specify what kind of NPC role you will want to play from the choices below.

  • A Member of the Tribunal Board - This role be playing one of the powerful Tremere Lord or Regents, who will make the judgement of the accused. We have a maximum of 7 of these roles available, and you will need to have a strong understanding of how Clan Tremere’s history and how the Clan as a whole operates.
  • Witnesses - You will be given some details of an events that you were present for, that may be either incriminate or exonerate the accused. You will be called to sit in the witness stand and will be cross examined.
  • Onlookers - You are simply there to observe, gasp and gossip and murmur with the other Onlookers. You just want to observe Tremere history in the making.

Once we have your journal entry, we will give you an outline on the kind of character we will need you to play. (But most of the characters identity and history will be up to you.) We will also give you other details, such as your generation, your XP and your Clan Status.

We hope to see many of you there for this ‘bonus’ Clan specific event. If this little ‘pre-game’ experiment proves to be a success, we may consider running other Clan specific events in the same style at a later date.
