Fellow Camarilla Kindred,

These words are mine and mine alone.

Due to being ‘detained for questioning’, I have been unable to make my voice heard of late. Well, that ends now. Any fucker that thinks they can keep me under ‘arrest’ in my own city, once I decide to stop co-operating, doesn’t know who they are dealing with.

The Camarilla and I have always had our disagreements. But I did agreed that, during a time of war, you need strong leaders prepared to do what is necessary to secure victory. And I gave my full support to our armies, to counter the threat of the Sabbat.

But there’s a fine line between a military leader and a tyrant! I can tolerate the former. But I will fucking bury the latter when they try and stomp on my freedoms, or the freedoms of my Brujah brothers and sisters!

That is a promise..

The Imperator promises victory and security

I speak now to all Kindred of the Ivory Tower,

The Sabbat strike back at us with their last desperate ounce of strength. They have awakened their greatest sleeper agents, fleshcrafted duplicates, trained to imitate the Prince’s of some of our most treasured cities. How long they have in place, waiting in silence for their master’s trigger, I cannot yet say. They try to turn the very structure of the Ivory Tower against us in this, to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

But do not give into fear! Do not heed the lies of the Sabbat, even if they come from the lips of a creature that resembles your Prince!

Be suspicious of any Praxis made during this war, for it is during desperate times that your judgement is most easily clouded.

Be wary of young Princes who lead you into breaking our unity. For it is simpler for an imposter to mimic the arrogance of an Ancillae, than to master the subtle wisdom of an Elder.

But I, Karsh, your guardian and servant, will not let this final act of deadly subterfuge succeed!

As of this evening, my 1st legion, the pride of the Camarilla’s grand army, began to lay siege to the city of Danbury. I am writing this missive to you all from the battlefront, for I have taken personal command of this assault.

Within this final great stronghold of the Sabbat, lies the Tzimisce who creates and controls their deadly infiltrators. Once we have him in our custody, we will be able to identify every single spy, saboteur and impersonator. And then my Myrmidons will eliminate every last one, bringing an end to the fear and terror that they have spread.

And then you shall rebuild, knowing that you are safe and protected, under the watchful eye of your Imperator.

Bold Camarilla Princes declare their support for New Haven!

A formal objection to the actions of Imperator Karsh,

We, being a collection of Sovereign Princes, who have all claimed Praxis of our domains by following the ancient traditions and practices, speak now to the Imperator. You will not answer us individually, so now we speak loudly and openly so that all will hear of our outrage.

We stand in solidarity with Preston Jennings, Sovereign ruler and Prince of New Haven. We too have rejected the authority of your Myrmidons, and cast them from our cities. We will not tolerate your attempt to take away the rights we are entitled to by Praxis.

We will not allow your Myrmidons execute any more denizens of our domains. The Right of Destruction is ours and ours alone!

We will not allow your Myrmidons to come and go from our territories as they please. The Right of Domain is sacred and none have the authority to usurp it!

We will not tolerate your attempts to silence the voices of the clans, and we demand to hear from the Justicariate immediately!

Heed our words, Karsh! We will not hand over our Domains to your Military state!

Post Game Announcements

Well, the STs are all starting to feel human again after last night’s event. We had a great time running the game for you and hope you all had a great time playing too.

New Player!

We welcomed a new face into the game last night, Kyle. We hope you enjoyed yourself and that we will see you again next time!

Humanity and Beast Traits

The morality system is a ruleset which we have been a little relaxed on enforcing, but would now like to make it a big factor in player decision making again. The struggle against the Beast and the fight to retain your humanity, is a fundamental part of roleplaying a vampire. So be aware, that we are going to be handing out beast traits more readily than before, for appropriate sins. Check up on the Humanity rules on page 299 of the rulebook.

But there are a couple of details on the system we’d like to remind you all of.

• Self-Defence - Committing a sin in self-defense does not change the number of beast traits you gain. The beast doesn’t care who struck first.
• Degeneration Challenges - To make a challenge, you must roleplay feeling genuine remorse for what you have done. If you can’t find justification to feel this remorse, you can’t make the challenge.
• Losing Humanity - There is no challenge made for Humanity loss. If you accumulate 5 or more beast traits, you lose a point of Humanity immediately.
• Using Minions - You do not gain beast traits if you are ordering others to do your dirty work for you.

Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges - Aftermath

After receiving a flood of letters from Princes declaring abruptly that they would not be coming, Preston Jennings’ Conclave of Princes was attended by only one visiting foreigner, Myrmidon Toby Aylett. Under the obligation of a boon debt, Aylett warned the Prince that his defiance of the Imperator would have consequences.

While the Kindred of the city debated what to do, several bold kindred came forth to voice their distrust of the Imperator. An impressive (but disturbing) message of support came from Malkav itself, as he channelled his voice through a dozen Malkavians simultaneously, lead by Primogen Bill Bradshaw.

The consequences alluded to by Aylett came to light within a few short hours, when another Myrmidon and a force of conscripts from Karsh’s army swept into the city, dividing into squads with orders to arrest and detain all kindred of the city for interrogation.

While the lead Mymridon and small force of conscripts went straight to the Prince’s court,. across the city, key locations and sanctuaries were set upon by Karsh’s thugs. But taking their lead from the Prince, the invaders were reminded why New Haven was victorious against the Sabbat just a few months ago.

Quickly and efficiently, the interlopers were contained and staked. The Myrmidon was put down rapidly and with no chance to plead. The squad that attempted to take over the Malkavian Sanctuary, while they were not killed, they are unlikely to ever fully recover their sanity. While the unfortunate conscripts that were sent down to take the Warrens, were almost eaten alive by mutated rats.

The city of New Haven sent a clear message to the Imperator. That they will not stand for his attempts to strip them of their rights. Within an hour, a multitude of other cities, emboldened by New Haven’s stand, ejected the Myrmidons from their domains and joined Prince Jennings in his stand against tyranny.

But the Imperator still remains ascendant, and if he can secure victory at Danbury swiftly, then New Haven may be the first city to be made an example of in the new military autocracy he seems to be seeking to establish...

This evening, Saturday 15th December, Nightmares will be running at the Lodge. Site will be open at 6pm and we will be aiming to start game at 7pm.

The gathering of the New Haven Court will take place tonight at the Woolsey Theatre. All attending Kindred are reminded that while the Woolsey is not an Elysium, all who attend are expected to conduct themselves in a dignified and civilized manner.

Slated to be In attendance this evening, are a multitude of Foreign Princes, from both local and international domains. Prince Jennings has called this Conclave of Princes to discuss the matter of the Ascendant Imperator and the overreaching powers of his Myrmidons.

Nightmares will be running on Saturday the 15th of December and we will be at the Lodge. Site will be open at 6pm and we will be aiming to start game at 7pm.

Hail to the Conquerer

With the Sabbat now desperately on the defensive, with even their twisted faith now failing them, the Imperator promises the Camarilla that their centuries old enemy will soon be nothing but dust and ash. And his promise does not seem empty. Now devoid of effective military leadership, and with Temoch the Jackal in hiding, the Sword of Caine would seem to have little time left.

Imperator Karsh will accept no surrender, no negotiation for peace or ceasefire. Detroit, the formerly unassailable fortress city for the Sabbat in the north, is now under Karsh’s control, with only a few pockets of resistance remaining. The rumors say that Montreal and Charlotte will fall soon as well.

But while Karsh declares impending victory and glory, the Camarilla crumbles from within...

The Justicars stay silent, their political power robbed from them by Karsh’s popularity. The Myrmidons put hundreds of Kindred on trial, while their Prince’s watch helplessly as the Traditions of Domain and Destruction are subverted or ignored. Most of those convicted are either executed or drafted into Karsh’s growing army via blood bonds.

The UK, lead by the Prince of London, has declared its independence from the Camarilla, and sealed its borders. The United Baronies of Britain, as they now call themselves, now stand apart from the all Sects. Some whisper that there are even more sinister reasons for this Kindred ‘brexit’, but none will openly say what they think.

And as they did before, all eyes in the Camarilla turn to New Haven. This small, once-insignificant domain withstood the most massive assault of the entire war, possibly the largest outright Kindred battle since the sacking of Carthage. But they did it without the aid of the Karsh’s forces, who declared the city was to be a ‘tactical loss’ and focused his attention elsewhere.

Now, Prince Jennings has called for a Conclave of Princes to discuss the overreaching power of the Imperator. A bold move for an Ancillae Prince, who’s Praxis is still fresh and untested. But New Haven is known as a turbulent place, and being only a stones throw from the only Sabbat domain still standing firm, Danbury, many fear to even travel there.

Will the Conclave rally the Princes to take back their authority? Or will it give the Imperator even more reason to tighten his grip?

A Message from the United Kingdom

I, John De Monteford, Prince of London and head of the Council of the Baronies of England, Scotland and Wales, do address the Camarilla at large, in accordance with the traditions of that once grand and noble institution.

I do not say these words lightly, and it has taken the Council several months of debate to reach this conclusion. We recognize and accept the consequences of what is about to be said, and our will cannot be changed.

Let it be known that the Camarilla has fallen prey to corruption since the Nights of Turmoil, and we were prepared to tolerate this corruption and sought to weed it out over the years. But recent events have made us realize that the Ivory Tower is crumbling and cannot be repaired.

We hold the following grievances against the Camarilla and feel there is no satisfactory answer for these actions.

• The continued tolerance of the crimes of Anarch nation towards legitimate domains, and the absurd protections granted to them that prevent a Prince from being able to rule his own domain effectively.
• The acceptance of an Antediluvian, know for his capacity to manipulate and deceive, as a member of the Camarilla and the subsequent Praxis seizure of the nebulously defined ‘Digital Domain’. This is threat to the security of all that should have been opposed by the Justicariate.
• The refusal of the Imperator to pursue a ceasefire with the Sabbat, even though their forces are in constant retreat. We see this as a political move to continue increasing his own power and influence. The Justicariate have done nothing to oppose this shift to a military state. It is no longer tolerable.
• The sanctioning of Myrmidons to violate the traditions as they see fit, robbing Princes of their rightful authority within their own domains.
• The ‘drumhead’ trials, setup by the same Myrmidons, to imprison or murder citizens of our domains, under the absurd mantle of protecting us from ‘Sabbat Infiltration’.

For these grievances, we the united Baronies of Great Britain have decided to take our lead from the mortals masses of our own lands. As they have decided to depart from the shackles placed upon them by the European nations, so we have decided to cast off the shackles of the Camarilla.

Great Britain is now closed to all foreign Kindred, our borders have been secured and are watched diligently. Do not bring your war, or your corruption to this Emerald Isle any longer! Those of you whose lives, mortal or immortal, were begun here, you are welcome to return and swear fealty to our new kindred nation. But leave the trappings of the Camarilla, the Sabbat or the Anarch movement behind you.

I, John De Monteford, once the process of separation is complete, shall be stepping down from my role as both Prince of London, and head of this council. This shall be my last declaration on behalf of the Princes of Britain. I stand aside gladly, for once we are a shining independent nation again, the true heir to the Throne of the Baronies shall step up to lead us into our bright future.

An announcement from the Imperator.

I speak now to all Kindred of the Ivory Tower,

It is with great sadness that I must announce the death of Joran Marcovi, High Myrmidon. Not only was he one of the greatest heroes of the Camarilla, and a tactical genius who has kept this institution safe for centuries, he was also my closest friend.

The Camarilla has lost a decorated veteran, and I have lost a treasured companion and confidant. Let those who read this, mourn his passing, for our world is darker place now, without his watchful protection over us all.

Marcovi was assassinated by a Sabbat Infiltrator while leaving the City of New Haven, nearly a month ago. So cunning and devious was this interloper that it has taken my investigators this long to finally find confirmation of his passing. The assassin was not caught, and remains a serious threat to the security of us all.

It is clear to me, that my friend was murdered because the Sabbat feared the new authority I had granted him to weed out their hidden agents. I will not allow his death to be in vain.

By my authority, as war leader of the Camarilla, I hereby grant the status of Universally Sanctioned to every one of my Myrmidons. Thus giving them the means to expose and eliminate these infiltrators and those who collaborate with them, before they can flee or hide again.

And I give you this promise. I will not rest! I will not back down! I will bring you victory! I will wipe away the threat of the Sabbat! I will make your immortal lives safe and secure once again. This I swear to you, on the blood of my fallen friend, Joran.

New Haven ‘Superheros’ make unnerving public statement!

Mysterious Video believed to be first public statement made by controversial Vigilantes

The video below was sent to New Haven authorities from an anonymous source. It was somehow made to appear on every single computer and cellphone in the NHPD Headquarters, City Hall and the offices of this newspaper. It appears to be a grim warning from the costumed crime fighters who have the subject of much public debate.

The NHPD has yet to release a statement regarding the video, but due to the already wide distribution of the message (It is already uploaded to Vimeo, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter), the Register is publishing it here for our readers. We invite your comments at the end of the article, please let the city know how you feel. Are ‘The Accuser and the Redeemer’ a blessing or a curse on our streets?

The video starts with static then cuts to a clear picture.

Inside a nondescript room. A bright light shines down on a brown square table to show a set of black gloved hands. Black trench coat covered arms are attached to them. Shadow cuts off the field of vision to anything else. An electronically distorted voice shouts with eerie conviction,

“Criminals of New Haven, YOU STAND ACCUSED!”

Just then the hands begin to move, gesticulating for emphasis, and another electronically distorted voice explains,

“The scum of New Haven must Redeem themselves for the crimes against humanity which they commit. Rapists, human traffickers, organized crime, murders, thieves, and the rest. Your time has come.”

The hands still in motion to the lecture, clench into angry fists.

“You have one last chance to stop your ways or leave New Haven. Your redemption is at hand. Rejoice, for you will be saved from your evil ways.”

The voice pitch changes to a dark, grim tone.

”I am coming for you.”

The hand relaxes into a pointing finger. After a few short moments of silence, the original distorted voice speaks once more with the same eerie conviction as before,

“Copycat vigilantes, YOU STAND ACCUSED!”.

Once again the secondary voice chimes in the hand makes a fist and drops onto the table,

“How dare you commit heinous crimes in our name. Your redemption is at hand. You are now considered one of them.”

The voice becomes more grim,

“I will be actively looking for you as well. You made a very big mistake claiming your own work as ours. You will turn yourselves in, or you will be REDEEMED!”

Towards the end of the final statement the voice pitch changes to strong anger as the fist rises off of the table and shakes. The video cuts to static...

An endless war…

The Sabbat are on the run, and even the bonds of Vaulderie are not powerful enough to hold them together as they are torn apart from within by disloyalty and rebellion. And even as they try to rally their warriors to stand and defend their territories, the forces of the Imperator cut through their lines with devastating effect. The Sabbat cities of Detroit, Charlotte and Montreal are all currently under assault by Karsh’s armies.

Rumors abound that the power and influence that the Imperator gains with each victory are beginning to outstrip the authority of the Justicariate. Some whisper that the Sabbat have attempted to call for a end to hostilities, but that Karsh has refused to come to the negotiating table. Firearms, blades and other tools of war become harder to find as conflict rages on.

Meanwhile, the fear of Sabbat infiltration has given the Myrmidons free reign to detain or imprison those who speak out against the Imperator, labeling them as ‘potential spies’.

The city of New Haven already weathered it’s own inquisition at the hands of the Karsh’s second-in-command. But the High Myrmidon has not been seen since, and the office of the Imperator claims that he is ‘suspected to have been killed by a Sabbat Infiltrator’. The fearful Princes of the world, hearing these terrifying reports, hand over even more of their freedoms, in exchange for greater protection from the Myrmidons.

The Justicariate’s response to events is little to none. The rights of Prince’s are being curbed in the name of security. The very structure that holds the Ivory Tower is being undermined.

A way must be found to end this bloodshed, before your freedoms become the next casualty of the Imperator’s violent campaign...

Prince Jennings of Clan Ventrue reassures the Kindred of New Haven that the Traditions and Strictures of the Camarilla remain very much alive as far as he is concerned, and he invites you to discuss the impact of the war and any other concerns that the residents of the city may have at a gathering of Kindred, to be held in the newly refurbished Library of Yale University.
