Little Rock, AR - This past Friday evening an emergency session of the City Council was held in response to public outcry against the recent rash of rioting and gang violence. Several watch groups and many upset citizens from all parts of the city came together crying for the City Council to do something to stem the tide of violent crimes in the Little Rock area. After only an hour of discussion and hearing the empassioned pleas of the people of the city, the Council decided to set a curfew on the city, put into effect at noon today. Any person caught outside within city limits after 9pm will be taken into custody and held for 24 hours pending an investigation of what they were doing out after curfew. This caused initial public outrage as it meant that people who worked in the city at night or had to travel in the city due to an emergency would be arrested for meeting their personal obligations. The council quickly revised their ruling to include issuing passes to those people who worked overnight in the city, and recommending to the police that those people in emergency situations be assisted in getting to where they need to go. Anyone with questions in regards to this matter can contact the Mayors office or the LRPD.
